Dr. Shen received her B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Alberta in 2001 and completed her Ph.D. in microbial genetics in 2007 from Harvard University and postdoctoral work in chemical biology at Stanford University. She started as an assistant professor at the University of Vermont in 2011 and was named a Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences in 2012. Her work focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating Clostridium difficile sporulation and germination using structural, genetic, and biochemical approaches.
